What a week, huh?

As I write this, it's been less than 24 hours since we learned who our 45th president will be. I'm not one to be chatty when it comes to controversial topics like politics - at least, outside of my very small inner circle. (I won't even talk politics with my Mom!)

That said, I don't feel right starting this post without at least mentioning a few thoughts on this election's outcome.

First, I am so proud to see that so many women came out for this election and voted! This was only the 12th presidential election that women were legally allowed to vote in. Let me just say that again - only the 12th president that women could legally vote for! So, I am thrilled to see that so many of my female friends and family asserted their right and made their vote heard :).

In terms of where we go from here, my greatest hope is that we go forward as a country on a better path than we walked during the campaign season. We live in a massive country, landmass wise, with a great variance in lifestyle and opinion. I hope that as a collective whole we find a way to stop waiting for our turn to talk and start listening. I also really hope for tolerance and compromise. ("What the world needs now, is love, sweet love...")

Now that that's out of the way, let's get to the fun stuff - Makeup! :)

It's becoming a bit of a tradition for B and I to attend fall weddings. We've been lucky enough to be on the guest list for four October weddings these past three consecutive years :).

Not only do I feel so loved to be asked to share in these special celebrations, but can we just talk about how Fall is the perfect wedding backdrop?!

I mean, the natural glow of red, gold and copper foliage. The mild temps that lend themselves to outdoor hoorahs. The perfect excuse to buy another jewel tone dress... ;).

Then there's the makeup - high fives all around for red lip season! For this look, I went classic with a neutral, defined eye and a bold red lip. I created this neutral eye with my well-loved, original Lorac Pro Palette. For the red lips, I used my all-time favorite liquid lipstick with NYX's Soft Matte Lip Cream in Monte Carlo

The Soft Matte Lip Cream line can be a little hit or miss, in terms of formula and smooth application. But this one? Gals, if you want to try this line then this shade needs to be your first stop!

The pigmentation is strong and the application is smooth, without patchiness you sometimes find in other liquid lipsticks. While I touched up after every meal (mainly because I'm an incredibly messy eater...), this lip cream continued to layer easily and beautifully. Overall, get your tush to the drugstore and give this lip cream a try! :)

Now tell me - How do you feel about Fall wedding season?
