Tori's Pretty Weekly Wrapping - A little Fresh Air

The responsibility struggle is real.

Do I do all of the adulting or do all of the Toronto?

You see, I'm a big fan of structure.

I like my life and schedule neat and tidy. Systems make my happy. Organizing makes me happier. Planning weekly in my Erin Condren makes me happiest.

At the same time, who knows how long we'll be in Toronto...or Canada for that matter? There are SO many things I want to see and do (like this, or this, or even this!)

Last weekend, I was totally prepared for our routine apartment cleaning. I thought we were in for gloomy skies and cold winds so I set a whole day aside to battle those dust bunnies.

But then the sun came out...  and the weather warmed....

B said, "What do you think about checking out the Scarborough Bluffs?"

...guess which one I chose?

I really love doing all of the adulting. I weirdly, seriously, really do!

But you know what? I'm just going to say the thing you're not supposed to say anymore...

YOLO.

This Week's Pretty Nails:

OPI In the Spot-Light Pink, OPI Who the Shrek are You?, OPI Sparrow me the Drama - Tori's Pretty Things Blog
OPI In the Spot-Light Pink mini (prefer this one!), OPI Who the Shrek are You? mini (similar), OPI Sparrow me the Drama mini (similar, bolder option)
I'm back at it with the mini polishes! Woot woot!

These three cuties are some of the oldest in my collection, going back six years into the archives.

Ya know, I love the idea of mini polishes. Not spending a fortune to try a ton of shades? Um, yes please!

But I'm pretty sure it defeats the purpose when you end up buying the full size version of that mini too... (Here's looking at you full-size bottle of Who the Shrek are You?)

Negative Space Spring Dotticure Nail Art, OPI Sparrow me the Drama - Tori's Pretty Things Blog
OPI In the Spot-Light Pink mini (prefer this one!), OPI Who the Shrek are you? mini (similar), OPI Sparrow me the Drama mini (similar, bolder option)
This dotticure looked so much prettier in my mind than it ended up on the nails.

In my mind, this would be like a soft, girly abstract garden. Sparrow me the Drama would be the small, spray roses. Who the Shrek are You? would look like a few sprinkled leaves. In the Spot-Light Pink would be the soft sheer base that tied the look together.

My eyes grow big ol' hearts again just thinking about how I wanted it to look... Le sigh.

Instead, I ended up with a barely-there mani that was a struggle to shoot and looked almost invisible to the naked eye. Womp womp.

In hindsight, it was my choice in minis that got the better of me!  I really wanted to bring out some older shades, but I probably should have gone with a slightly more pigmented base like this one and a warmer, brighter pink like this one.

Eh, you win some and lose some, #amiright?

As for the polishes, if you can still get your hands on 'em, I'm a big fan of Sparrow me the Drama and Who the Shrek are you?

I can't say the same about In the Spot-Light Pink, though. It's a little too sheer for my taste - you can barely tell that it's the base color. OPI's Bubble Bath is a much better option to get the same effect.

This Week's Pretty Makeup:

Girl's Night makeup look using the Urban Decay original Naked Palette - Tori's Pretty Things Blog
Wearing:
brow pencil, crease, lid and highlight shade palette, eyeliner, mascara, blush, lip balm
Every gal has their go-to makeup look. Those couple of products and handful of steps that almost instantly make you feel pulled together!

For me, that's covering up my dark circles, filling in my brows, and creating a simple eye look with the original Urban Decay Naked palette

Naked Palette Everyday Makeup Look - Tori's Pretty Things Blog
Wearing:
brow pencil, crease, lid and highlight shade palette, eyeliner, mascara, blush, lip balm
watch (old - similar, similar), bracelet
I pulled this look together for a breezy girls night a few weeks ago.

It's nothing crazy and so easy to replicate - just a bit of the shade Naked in the crease, the shade Sidecar on the lid, and the shade Virgin on the brow bone. I'm not even wearing lipstick! (I know, who am I?!)

You know what, though? I felt good and feeling good made me look good :).

This Week's Pretty City:

Remember those Bluffs I was telling you about? Here they are in all of their beautiful, geological glory!

We spent most of Sunday exploring those grounds below. B and I strolled along most of those paths, took in the fresh air, and enjoyed the beautiful sights of both the bluffs and Lake Ontario.

I never realized just how blue and ocean-like a Great Lake looked!

Then we strolled over to the marina and, you guys, there were over a dozen houseboats. Houseboats!

I've never seen a houseboat in real life before but I was previously convinced they only existed for dramatic effect in 90's teen soaps.  So that was a pretty cool thing to be proven wrong about :).

We wrapped up our little Toronto adventure by driving to the top of said Bluffs, to look out on the view below.

All in all, it was a lovely way to spend a springtime Sunday, and a little excursion that I highly recommend!

This Week's Pretty Life:

When your new friend asks you to go to a Monday night concert? The answer is always yes! (Or at least for the first few months, until it's socially acceptable to be your true grandma self again..)

I'm glad I didn't give in to my grandma tendency of staying in on a weeknight. It was such a blast catching the Clean Bandits and Zara Larsson with a great new pal earlier this week.

Zara Larsson? That girl can sing!

I dug her Swedish-Pop sound (and suede hot pink boots.) Plus, her backup dancers were absolutely fierce.

As for Clean Bandits - what's cooler than a dance-pop group with both a violinist and a cellist?! Very little, my friends. Very little.

Aside from their couple of radio hits, I really didn't know too many of their songs. Still, I loved their overall sound and was pleasantly surprised by the super-upbeat vibe of the crowd.

As for the rest of my week, B and I spent a little time perusing our favorite mall. They have the prettiest floral displays at the Sherway Gardens!

We both needed a few wardrobe upgrades (New sneakers and a hoodie for him. New workout tops for me.) So we spent most of Saturday bopping around a few shops and checking errands off our lists.

Sugared Lemon Zest 3-wick Candle
You know what else I picked up? Some new, delicious-smelling spring candles!

Gah, I'm in love!

Currently I'm burning Honeysuckle Bouquet, which instantly reminds me of the honeysuckle bush that used to be in my parent's backyard.

I'm pretty positive B will vote for Sugared Lemon Zest to be burned next. That man loves lemon and I will happily oblige when the candle smells like those sugary lemon bars I love so much!

It's full steam ahead for another busy weekend!

Somehow this introvert managed to book two brunches, another Meetup event, and a trip to check out the cherry blossoms all within a 28-hour span. Phew!

It's a rough life..but somebody's got to do it :) lol.

That's a wrap on another pretty week!

Tori's Pretty Weekly Wrapping - Make Yourself at Home

Osgoode Hall, Toronto, ON - Tori's Pretty Things Blog
Osgoode Hall - Toronto, ON
Well, hello and happy Friday! And what a happy Friday it is, right?

I mean it's full-blown spring, we get so many more hours of sunshine, and life just seems to be taking a turn for the better lately :).

Guess what? Our condo sold...in only one week! What's even better? Chances are extremely high that we won't be moving anytime soon. Woohoo!

I also spent a good part of this past week building some lovely new friendships. I met a couple new friends on a weeknight for fun conversations and big old bowls of Chicken Pho. A few days later, I went to a coffee Meetup and met some of the nicest gals!

B and I are trying so hard to build a life for ourselves here. Lately, it's almost like the fates are saying, "Make yourself at home. Stay awhile."

You know what, Fates? We may just do that :)

This Week's Pretty Nails:

Orly Snowcone, China Glaze Sweet Hook, OPI Step Right up Mini - Tori's Pretty Things Blog
Orly Snowcone (old packaging shown), China Glaze Sweet Hook, OPI Step Right Up Mini
There's a quote constantly floating around the interwebs that says, "Find inspiration everywhere."

I have no idea who said it first, but let me tell you -- I took this quote to heart in this week's nail art!

During Target's Black Friday sale, I scooped up my first electronic toothbrush.

Best. Purchase. Ever!

This little Sonicare makes me feel like I'm getting a dental cleaning on the daily, with those four 30-second brushing intervals.

In two minutes of teeth brushing, this gal gets a little time to think. You know what crossed my mind last week?

"Hm, that oval design could make really cute nail art."

Sonicare Inspired Abstract Spring Nail Art - Tori's Pretty Things Blog
Orly Snowcone, China Glaze Sweet Hook, OPI Step Right Up mini
Did I draw perfect ovals? Definitely not.

But do these have that fun Mod 60's feel I was going for? Totally!

I'm almost positive that I'm not the first person to come up with this nail art design. But I wonder if others were also inspired by their Sonicare? lol

For these polish shades, we already chatted that I'm digging back through the polish archives.

If you love an opaque pale blue then I highly recommend Orly's Snowcone. The formula is great and the color is pretty much sky-blue perfection! (Orly re-branded about two years back so this explains why my bottle looks a little different than the one linked.)

Step Right Up is the sheer shade of the bunch. On its own, this delicate ivory is a lovely base for a classic french mani. Here I used it for a soft accent dot.

China Glaze's Sweet Hook is just that -- a sweet whitened lilac shade that will hook you right in! This color reads very springtime floral, but I could see it looking great for a summer pedi too!

This Week's Pretty Outfit:

Blush Blouse spring outfit, Flutter sleeve blush blouse, bell sleeve blouse, Spring 2017 outfit - Tori's Pretty Things Blog
Blouse, Watch (old - similar, similar), Jeans, Flats, Phone case (not sold online - same brand, different color)
What are your thoughts on this new bell and flutter sleeve trend?

At first, I wasn't too sure but then I saw this blouse in H&M and had to give it a go. I mean, give me blush pink everything, but then add the neckline detail and girly sleeve? I'm all heart eyes!

As far as sizing goes, I sized up one size because I liked the slightly roomier fit.

I'm sad to say that my old phone case bit the dust. That's what I get for dropping my phone one too many times!

Thankfully I live around the corner from a Marshalls and picked up this great Casery phone case. Woot woot for discounts!

I couldn't find this exact marble-style on The Casery's website, but they have a ton of other cute marble options. Maybe I'll even pick up the rose gold marble as a backup? :)

This Week's Pretty Meal:

Sausage-stuffed Zucchini Boats - Tori's Pretty Things Blog
Sausage-stuffed Zucchini Boat recipe - originally printed in Good Housekeeping
I admit - I'm still a fan of old-school magazines. It's so relaxing to take a coffee break and flip through those glossy pages.

Specifically, I'm a big fan of Good Housekeeping. Do you ever pick up a copy?

I'm about to go on a bit of a tangent here so bear with me...

I'm very independent (sometimes stubbornly so), career-oriented, and strong. I'm also very proud of my home and my family and taking care of both.

My core values very much align with the modern feminist. So I believe that women are allowed to love and be proud of whatever (and whoever) they love without being pigeonholed into a specific role.

So Yes, Good Housekeeping's title might feel outdated and like they're talking to the women of yesteryear. But gals, so much of their career, health, beauty, family, and home content talk perfectly to our adult millennial lifestyles!

Italian Style zucchini boats recipe - Tori's Pretty Things Blog
Italian-Style Zucchini Boats
So what does this have to do with zucchini?

Well, case in point - GH is where I found this delicious, quick and healthy sausage-stuffed zucchini boat recipe!

As my first attempt at zucchini boat-anything, the scooping-out technique took a bit of practice. Including that slight struggle, this dish whipped together in about 45 minutes. #WeeknightWin

My only critique is that my version came out less flavorful than I expected.

However, I'm 99% sure this has to do with the lack of Italians, and thus good quality Italian sausage, in Toronto than it does with the recipe itself! (I also might be a tad spoiled growing up in the epicenter of Italian immigrants and some of the best Italian food outside of Italy...)

A big healthy dinner that feels decadent but fits in my calorie limits? I will definitely give this recipe another go :).

This week's pretty life:

Toronto Blue Jays baseball gear - Tori's Pretty Things Blog
Toronto Blue Jays merchandise in Marshalls
Toto, I have a feeling we're not in New York anymore...

It's so strange to live outside of Mets/Yankees territory for the first time in my life!

I am so pumped for baseball season, though. My fingers are crossed that my Mets get back on track and head back to the World Series!

One of my life goals is to get to as many baseball stadiums as possible. So once the weather warms up, it's time to watch those Blue Jays and Check off stadium #8!

As far as life goes, spring finally sprung here in Toronto. I love watching the flowers bloom, the trees bud their little leaves, and adding the High Park cherry blossom season to my to-do list.

Old City Hall - Toronto, ON - Tori's Pretty Things Blog
Lamp posts on Old City Hall - Toronto, ON
Last weekend I actually succeeded in resting my face off. Can you believe it? (I'm so bad at resting that I actually almost can't, myself...

The only trip out and about was a mini-excursion for an early brunch with B (because #alwaysbrunch.)

We leisurely strolled home to enjoy the nice weather and Toronto's old city hall. Would you just look at those gorgeous lamps?!

Old City Hall - Toronto, ON - Tori's Pretty Things Blog

I'm terrible at math but always toyed with the idea of becoming an architect. There's just something about building design that I find so fascinating!

Old City Hall is quickly becoming the Toronto version of what the Empire State building means to me in New York. I just can't stop staring!

What's next on the agenda?

United States Capitol Building - Washington, DC - Tori's Pretty Things Blog
The United States Capitol Building - Washington, DC (circa 2009)
May trip to Washington, D.C.? Officially booked!

I try to visit my D.C. area family every year or so. (It's been almost three years this time - I'm super slacking!) So I can't wait for a little bit of sightseeing and a whole bunch of family time :).

As for the weekend, It'll be a little chilly and cloudy so I'm thinking maybe it's time to check out a museum. Maybe the AGO? Maybe the ROM? I'd love to hear your suggestions!

It's also that time again for another big apartment cleaning. Womp Womp :/ lol.

That's a wrap on another pretty week!

Tori's Pretty Weekly Wrapping - New York, New York

Flatiron, Manhattan, New York - Tori's Pretty Things Blog
Flatiron, Manhattan, New York
Never in my life did I think that I'd miss the New York housing market.

You heard right. I actually miss the insanity that is living and renting in New York.

Apparently the Toronto housing market? Honey, that's a wholeeeeee new ball game!

Long story short, this gorgeous condo that we rent (with the stunning views you saw here and here) is being sold. Thankfully, we're mid-lease and so locked in at least until that ends. But the possible outcomes are quite stressful - as is letting strangers into your home on the daily!

Fingers crossed that it's a whole lot of stress for nothing and we end up getting to live here for as long as we'd like. We'll certainly see either way!

So for today, I'm just going to live in the glory that is and was New York. That beautiful, strong, vibrant city. The place I used to call home and moseyed off to last weekend to celebrate B's 30th.

Are you ready for those fun-filled details? Then let's start wrapping!

This Week's Pretty Nails:

OPI My Favorite Ornament, OPI Fiercely Fiona Mini - Tori's Pretty Things Blog
OPI My Favorite Ornament (old, similar), OPI Fiercely Fiona Mini (old, similar)
This week I wanted bright, simple, and a subtle homage to B's 30th birthday.

Enter a simple soft gold and B's favorite color paired up in this Moroccan-print accent.

I love, love, love the What's Up Nails nail art vinyls. They make straight lines and french manis so stinkin' easy!

However, I just can't get their Moroccan vinyls to work well. This was my 2nd attempt and they just don't peel up clean for me, requiring a little too much design clean up.

I love the look but I'm not a fan of the effort it took to get there. That said, these straight and x vinyls are beautiful and much easier to work with :).

As far as the polish goes, this is such an easy look to re-create!

Buttery spring yellow and light gold sparkle compliment each other so well - but also don't look like your inner child went cray-cray :).

This Week's Pretty Makeup:

Wearing:
brow pencil, brow gel, crease shade, inner 1/2 lid - old  (similar), outter 1/2 lid - old (similar),

It's mid-last week and I'm three days deep into re-creating the no-makeup makeup look.

I once again reach for my mascara when the eyeshadow draw catches my eye. I'm drawn, once again, to oohing and aahing at the aqua, magenta, emerald, and copper shades.

Usually, I think, "Oh, so pretty! But I just can't make this work for daytime."

Wearing:
brow pencil, brow gel, crease shade, inner 1/2 lid - old (similar), outter 1/2 lid - old (similar),
liquid liner, mascara, blush, lipstick
Well, you know what? That day I said, "Challenge accepted!"

Ages ago, I picked up the three Disney-inspired Sephora eyeshadow palettes. So I grabbed Cinderella and used the shimmery french vanilla shade, Charming, on the inner half of my lid. I then swept the light minty shade, Destined, on the outer half of my lid.

I threw Naked, a matte light brown shade, in the crease and added my usual liquid liner. I popped a pinky nude on the lips and ended up with a perfect spring makeup look.

This combo is such a lovely way to wear a little color in a very daytime-appropriate way!

PS - I took these photos the day after I got my haircut and oh my wow did those curls brush out into perfect old Hollywood waves! Another plus for this look as a whole :)

This Week's Pretty City:

Downtown Manhattan at night - view from hotel, New York City
Last week, I shared that B and I were headed back to the city we used to call home.

Oh, New York. It was so good to see you again! I didn't realize how much I missed you until your views once again melted my heart.

If you're planning to visit New York, I highly recommend our go-to hotel, the Wyndham Chinatown.

The rooms are great and moderately priced. The staff is friendly. Plus, you could really luck out with some stunning views like we did!

It also tugs a bit at our heart strings because you're smack in the middle of our old stomping grounds. You really can't get more old New York than Bowery and Canal St.

I mean, look at that sunset? That Manhattan skyline just gives me all those "New York State of Mind" feels...::Heart Eyes::

This Week's Pretty Life:

Tori's Pretty Things - a 30-something nail, beauty, and lifestyle blog
B's 30th Birthday celebration!
Aside from those gorgeous views, I got to look at this gorgeous view as I celebrated the man I love starting out the next decade ;).

We began on Saturday with an early dinner reservation at Uncle Boon's, a delicious and authentic Thai restaurant in NoLita.

Rotisserie Chicken and Thai dipping sauces - Uncle Boon's, Nolita, NYC - Tori's Pretty Things Blog
Rotisserie Chicken and Thai dipping sauces - Uncle Boon's, Nolita, NYC
I cannot recommend this place enough. It's so popular that I made reservations 3 weeks out...and even then there was a line to get in the door!

I'm still discovering Thai cuisine, so some dishes are still hit or miss for my palette. But would you just look at how perfectly roasted that chicken is?!

And that red sauce? Oh my god, I could bathe in that sweet and tangy deliciousness!

Copper and Oak Whiskey Bar, Lower East Side, NYC - Tori's Pretty Things Blog

After dinner, my sneaky surprises began!

B isn't much of a planner but I couldn't let such a big birthday pass without a bit of a shindig. So all last week I worked in cahoots with his closest buddies to plan a surprise hurrah :).

The first oart of the surprise was taking him to Copper & Oak, a great little whiskey bar in the Lower East Side. B's drink of choice is whiskey and, with a menu of over 180 options, Copper & Oak was not in short supply!

Then, one by one, familiar face after familiar face walked in as the second half of the surprise, slowly filling up the tiny bar. Eventually, both the bar and B's drink were as full as they could get! (I'm also pretty sure his heart was too ;) )

He was thrilled to spend his birthday with so many wonderful friends and I was thrilled that he was thrilled. +1 in the surprise success column!

Sunday, B's actual birthday, included a sweat session at Brooklyn Boulders - Queensbridge and a perfect New York egg and cheese on a kaiser roll.

By mid-day we were back at JFK, walking the mile to our terminal and hoping to avoid the same delayed Delta flight from our visit into NYC. Thankfully, we made it back to TO safe, sound and fairly on time :)

All in all? A wonderful celebration success!

I knew there would be tons of "life stuff" to catch up on when we got home so I planned ahead and took a day off.

I wish I could say I did something really fun and restful... but really I unpacked, paid bills, and ran errands. BUT! I did buy these super cute pillows during said errands!

I was veery inspired by this pin and Marshalls had the perfect pillows to make my cozy living room dreams start coming true :).

Next on the decorating agenda? Upgrading this hideous lamp.

If only I could tell me 14-year-old self that this decor decision would literally follow me for the next 16 years, maybe I would have picked differently....

Oh well, one upgrade at a time!

What's next on the agenda?

Spring Vegetables - Tori's Pretty Things Blog
Spring Vegetables
It's Easter weekend - I have nothing planned!

Life's been so busy lately that I'm just looking forward to a little thing I call, "Sleep, Eat, Repeat."

Or maybe I'll pop in an old Cary Grant film, burn a floral candle, and crack a window?

Or maybe B and I will take a stroll through the city? The possibilities are endless!

Knowing me, though?

I'll probably do that whole relaxing thing for a hot two hours and then start a bazillion other creative projects. So for now, I'll enjoy the idea of resting -- even if I have a hard time actually committing to it!

That's a wrap on another pretty week!

Now it's your turn. Tell me - What was the best thing that happened in your week?

Tori's Pretty Weekly Wrapping - Pretty Brights & Birthday Nights

Queen St W and Spadina Ave, Toronto
Queen St W and Spadina Ave, Toronto
In roughly 48 hours the love of my life turns 30! Woohoo!

B and I are heading back to New York for a short weekend trip to celebrate this milestone. I love me some Toronto but I can't wait to spend a little time back in the Big Apple.

If you know me in real life you know that the nightlife scene isn't my thing.

I don't drink, I'm a pretty shy dancer, and a true introvert. Most weekend nights you can find me curled up on the couch reading fashion blogs or devouring youtube beauty videos. #ThatIntrovertLife

So I'm really not usually the gal you want by your side when you're feeling all those club vibes. I'm more the, "I feel awkward and bored, so while you sit here and get totally plastered, I'll stare off at the sports game on the TV and sip my soda water with lime."

That said, there are a few exceptions when I add some sugar to my soda water and shake my tail feathers.

Halloween? Costume party, here I come!

New Year's Eve? I'll take a LBD, smokey eye, and mocktail, please.

A loved one's Birthday? Heck yeah to that bar crawl!

So, bring it on, New York. B deserves one heck of a celebration and I'm all in. Here's to dusting off those dancing shoes and getting ready to show this city who's back in town :).

This Week's Pretty Nails

Springtime Nail Polish
Wearing:
OPI Pink Friday (old, similar), Zoya Dannii, Zoya Jo,
Urban Decay Love Train (old, Similar), Maybelline Outloud Lime (old, Similar
I know, I know. Spring and florals - totally cliché, right?

But you know what? If a gal can't pair springtime and florals then really, what can we pair?!

This week I went with another Pinterest-inspired mani (inspired by this pin), trying my hand at a ruffian daisy chain.

Springtime Daisies Floral NOTD
Wearing:
OPI Pink Friday (old, similar), Zoya Dannii, Zoya Jo
Urban Decay Love Train (old, similar), Maybelline Outloud Lime (old, similar
As a long-standing polish collector, it goes without saying (..but, you know, with saying) that I own quite a few polishes. Over 800 to be exact. #Iknow

Fun Fact: It's super difficult to move a nail polish collection of this size across international borders, where Customs agents haven't heard of something like nail polish collection...

That whole messy and expensive process really put into perspective wants vs. needs!

So I'm on a bit of a no-spend and diving back into the collection.

Spring Floral Mani 2017

OPI Pink Friday (old, similar), Zoya Dannii, Zoya Jo
Urban Decay Love Train (old, similar), Maybelline Outloud Lime (old, similar
Maybelline doesn't even make this line of polish anymore but I'm so happy to have this oldie around. What once worked as a bright summer lime now perfectly doubles as a cheery spring green base.

I then used a bubblegum pink, cool-toned cornflower blue, and a rich violet for the ruffian floral design. I popped in a shimmery white for the flower's center and - voilĂ !

Ruffian Floral nail art 2017
Wearing:
OPI Pink Friday (old, similar), Zoya Dannii, Zoya Jo
Urban Decay Love Train (old, similar), Maybelline Outloud Lime (old, similar
Most of these shades found their way to my heart 4+ years ago. I'm so impressed that these Zoya shades made their way to the permanent collection!

But. I mean, it makes sense. Who wouldn't want an affordable, salon quality formula in pretty much every shade? ::raises hand!::

So while Pink Friday, Love Train, and Outloud Lime are too old to get your hands on, this pink, shimmery white, and spring green are great alternatives for one-stop shopping.

This Week's Pretty Outfit

White Jeans, Gray Sweater - Neutral Early Spring Outfit 2017
Wearing:
Sweater (old, similar length, similar color), Jeans (exact style, similar),
Booties (old, similar), Phone Case, Curling Iron
First off - Sorry for the dirty mirror! I took these one week shy of an office cleaning...

Ignoring that, here's a minor fashion-blog pet peeve.

I love seeing the warmer-weather fashion inspiration lately. But here in Canada? it's still pretty cold!

Even back home in the Northeast, it's just not warm enough yet to justify all of the tank tops and skirts I'm seeing on the blogs.

Spring Outfit, white Jeans and Gray Sweater, Early Spring 2017 Look

So here's my take on a spring fashion trend in a weather-matching way - neutrals on neutrals. Ahh, all the heart eyes!

Crisp white jeans, a neutral sweater, and taupe booties? This is such an easy formula for achieving a warm outfit that still feels so Spring.

Soft Baked Peanut Butter Cookies
Yet, I'm a gal with a soft-spot for baking. As a Type-A all the way, I find something soothing in exact measurements and oven timers :).

So yes, I did make this. No, I haven't lost track of my goals or changed my mind about healthy eating! Sometimes a gal just wants to spend a Saturday making cookies for the guy she loves (and then taking pretty photos to admire from afar.)

Thankfully of all the cookies in the world to make, Peanut Butter cookies don't  completely break the calorie bank. Plus, they pack a pretty nice punch of protein. So even if I do slip and eat one, it won't be the end of the world.

Now if you're looking for soft-baked peanut butter cookie perfection, then you need to check out this recipe!

I added all-natural peanut butter (I really just like the taste better) and chocolate chips, but otherwise I followed the recipe to a T. These cookies smell like heaven - and B said they tasted like them too.

This cookie is a true must make!

This Week's Pretty Life

At The Drive-In - Toronto, Ontario, March 2017
In my teens and early 20's, I spent many a Saturday night in the crowd of a good rock show. My life's changed though and it's been a couple of years so I screamed my little rock-loving heart out.

A few days ago, B and I threw our cares to the air and spent the night (a weeknight, even!) seeing one of his favorite bands, At The Drive-In.

One of the many, many reasons why I love B so much is that we just get each other.

We grew up very similarly when it comes to experiences and environments. So we developed very similar hobbies and tastes.

At our core, we're just both music-loving, deep-thinking, sleep hobbyists who enjoy trying new food, exploring new cities, and traveling the world.

While I wasn't sepecifically an At The Drive-In fan myself, I certainly am now! B and I had so much fun bopping around and dancing to their biggest hits.

Their music took us back to a time where a band t-shirt and loud music felt like home :).

You know what else can make a gal feel at home? Finding a really good go-to Mexican place in a new city. #Score!

This week's cheat meal looked a lot like healthy, slow cooked spicy chicken with a big ole pile of guacamole on top.

Mi Taco Taqueria? Yeah, we're going to get to know each other reallyyyy well.

Another Toronto first checked off? Finding a new hair salon.

Please tell me I'm not the only who feels stressed trying a new salon and a new stylist?! I know you hair-loving gals out there totally understand my feels!

I'm always so afraid of a terrible cut - I've been victim to a bad haircut one too many times.

Thankfully, Tiffany just totally nailed it!

Not only did we just click as women but she really listened to what I was looking for and shared some great advice on the balayage I'm considering. (Because apparently when I turned 30, my hair decided it was time to start growing gray hair...#notkidding)

I'm so happy with this cut - and even happier with the soft, beachy waves she styled. Ahhh, what a relief to find a new hair-home!
