Tori's Pretty Style & Beauty - A Summer Dress & a Bronze Glow

Would you ever let your boyfriend or husband pick your outfit?

And fully commit to wearing it no matter what he picked?

A couple of friends told us about this challenge and B and I thought, "Why not?"

Okay, okayyyy, so this really wasn't that big of a risk for me. Yeah, I might wear a strange outfit for a day... but I work from home.  So NBD if I didn't like it.

Plus, let me give props where props are due. B has a great sense of style, in general. (He can pick out a suit and tie combo like no other!)

So this was really more a curiosity thing. I really wanted to see what he'd gravitate toward!

The week we picked ended up being terribly busy. So truth be told, we only ended up getting two outfits off the ground.

But the look you're seeing here was one of them!

I was so pleasantly surprised!

I usually only wear dresses for two reasons: date nights or wayyy too hot summer days when the idea of anything on my legs is unbearable.

So I'll admit, it was really fun to change up the pace and wear a dress for a casual workday.  It also didn't hurt that it was a swing dress, which is pretty much the definition of comfortable.

I love that he added my all-time favorite denim jacket and easy flats, to keep this look casual and cute.

A+, B!

I'm up for trying this challenge again if you are :).

You know what's better than a delicious, strong flat white latte at a great local coffee shop?

When your barista makes a little heart out of the steamed soy milk :)

The MOTD:

I like to play a game with my eyeehadow palettes.

I haven't come up with a name for it yet but here are the rules:

1. Pick one eyeshadow palette
2. Use a different shade from that palette daily
(Usually going in order from top to bottom and left to right.)
3. No matter what the shade is, find a way to create a daytime appropriate look with it

Hot neon pink? Matte baby blue? Shimmery teal foil? I'm up for the challenge! (Also, it's a good way to keep myself in check and really pay attention to the colors when I buy new palettes...)

That game of eye shadow roulette, if you will, is how today's summer bronze look came about!

Right now, I'm playing with the Disney Storylook Cinderella palette from 2012 and went with the shimmery bronze shade, All Aglow, all over the lid. I added a matte warm brown bronzing powder to the crease and finished the eyes with lots of liner and mascara.

I paired the look with a pink glowing blush and a light nude-pink lip for a sunny, summertime look!

LID & BROW BONE: All Aglow and A Wish - Sephora Cinderella Palette (similar bronze, similar nude), CREASE: MAC Studio Careblend Pressed Powder (old - similar), BROWS: L'Oreal Pencil, Rimmel Gel, LINER: L'Oreal liquid liner, MASCARA: L'Oreal Voluminous, BLUSH: MAC Petticoat Mineralize Skinfinish (similar look), LIPS: MAC Hue Lipstick, YSL #7 dabbed in the center

True story, though: I paid way too much for the Storylook palettes. Like, wayyy too much. (Like, "Bought the trio on eBay two months after they went out of stock in Sephora" too much.)

Because I felt like I paid a literal arm and a leg for them, I make it a point to keep one of these three palettes in a fairly constant rotation. (You better believe I'm going to get my money's worth!)

But here I am, making it seem like using these palettes are such a chore... they're far from it! I love playing with the variety within these palettes. Even though they were expensive, they're a happy and well-loved part of my little collection!

For your wallet's sake though, Urban Decay make a similar bronze and brow bone shade to help you get a similar summery eye look :).
