Hello!
I'm back from vacation! I'm feeling rested, relaxed, and recuperating from a bit of sunburn lol. (It's been so long since I've spent that much time in the sunshine, I forgot just how much sun protection I need!)
A huge part of me was worried that the relaxation from the trip wouldn't outweigh the added stress of travelling during corona virus. I was 100% wrong.
B and I took a lot of extra precautions to help our trip go as smooth and safe as possible. Some of these include flying Delta since they're still keeping the middle seat free, taking private transport to and from the hotel, wearing N95 masks during all 12 hours of transit, etc.
Our own precautions combined with the general safety precautions at airports and on Delta airlines right now really helped me to feel like our risk was low.
So we were able to really relax and just chill for a beautiful seven days in the Caribbean.
I'll be sharing photos and more about our trip in next week's blog post. So for now, let's get into the recap...

Tori's Pretty Travels - Grand Cayman Island

Hello!
If you'e reading this then that means I'm relaxing on a beach with a Piña Colada in hand, my handsome hubs by my side, and enjoying some much needed - but safely distanced - R&R.
In honor of the beach vacation we're currently on, I thought it would be fun to reminisce on one of my favorite trips in the recent past - travelling to Grand Cayman Island in 2019.
Let's jump in!

Tori's Pretty Week -Figuring Out the New Normals
August 10 - August 16, 2020
Hello!
My mind feels in a rush this week.
B and I are doing something next week that never felt risky in pre-COVID times - we've decided to travel to go on vacation.
I'll preface this that we are so, so grateful to be in a physical health position and financial position to even be able to make this choice. So many people lost their livelihood, lost their day-to-day health, and lost their lives to the pandemic. I'm in a fortunate position to be gainfully employed and in full physical health to even be considering a vacation, let alone actually taking one.
Yet, I know I'm not alone in the toll that the pandemic is taking on our mental health. My husband and I needed to make the right choice for us, that factors in our safety and the safety of those around us. That means travelling as safely as we can to a place where the COVID cases are very low.
To find a place with very low cases, we feel we need to travel by plane to a place that's requiring a heath visa - for our own safety and considering the safety of others.
What was once a routine that B and I had down pat, due to our constant Toronto to US travel, now includes layer after layer of new safety precautions. I believe that the safety precautions are important and I want to do everything in my power to follow them!
So my mind is in a rush this week - figuring out how to fill in the puzzle pieces of safety alongside the already-stressful process of airplane travel.
Will it be worth it? I sure hope so!
But until then, let's jump into this past week...

Downtown Chicago Skyline at Sunset - Summer 2020
Hello!
We've made it to August and I'm sad.
Normally by this point, I've had enough of the hot weather, enough of the sunshine, and enough of the summer rush. My mind is usually already picking out fall outfits, fall polishes, and fall scents. (Let's be real, that's still happening lol.)
But this year? I'm not ready to let this calm summer go 🌞
The pandemic has brought on so many awful experiences and taken so many lives. So I find myself looking for silver linings. I feel so grateful for my health. I feel so much more appreciate of a world privilege I didn't realize I had until the BLM movement. I find myself so thankful for the slower pace this summer brought, instead of the usual balancing act of visitors, visits, and vacations.
I look forward to the simple joy of taking walks when the weather is nice out with my hubs, and experiencing more patio eating than we have in years (more on that below). I'm just not ready to go back to being indoors 90% of the time until a vaccine is available.
So I keep reminding myself that September is still usually warm. really, it's not usually until November when we really need to stay indoors that much. Plus, why worry about losing something when you still have it, right?
So that's how I'm feeling this week. How are you feeling? Leave me a comment, I'd love to know!
Now, let's jump in to the rest of my week...

What you Should and Shouldn't Buy from the N Sale
Coming at you with an extra post this week - woo!
The N Sale is just a few days away for most cardholders, and just over a week away for the public sale. I see so many posts sharing what you should buy but so few posts sharing what to steer clear from.
I've shopped the sale since 2016 and I've had quite a few hits! But I've also had a few misses too. So here's my take on what you should and shouldn't spend your hard-earned money on during this year's sale.
Disclaimer: This is 100% my opinion. What might be a terrible find for me might be an awesome find for you! Everyone has different style, needs, and wardrobe staples so these are just mine 😀
So let's jump in!

Tori's Pretty Week - Out with July, in With August
July 27 - August 2, 2020
It's Week number 2 and I'm still here! I had a lot of fun writing last week's post so let's keep the fun rolling 😀
I mean, fun is what blogging should be all about, right?
You know that saying about assuming? There should be one about perfection, and how all of that pressure just ends up creating a perfect mess that sucks all of the fun right out of things!
("When you try to be perfect you end of F-ing the Per-pose"? lol
I don't know lol. Leave your thoughts on what that phrase could be in the comments!)
Anyway, taking the pressure off and just writing when it's fun is going to be my goal this time around. Because would I even be my Type-A gal self without some kind of a goal? 😆
So let’s jump in and talk about this week.
