Hello!

We've made it through another week!

That just feels so special when the world feels so terrible lately, doesn't it?

The news is heavy and infuriating. Mostly because so much feels absolutely out of control. I want to stay in the know and I want to do my part to help. Yet, I'm also a highly sensitive person and feel so deeply that the world can all feel just so... heavy.

I read the news most days. I set up recurring donations. I re-share content on Instagram about Black Lives Matter, women's rights, and climate change to spread awareness.

But is it enough?

Can reusing my water bottle or shopping at Thread Up more often really help slow down the warming of our planet? Can my small, monthly donation make a difference? Will I really help someone see a different point of view with the content I'm re-sharing or am I just shouting in a bubble?

I don't know the answer. I don't really know what's going to make a difference.

I do know that I'm not going to stop trying, if for nothing else then to know I tried.

So I read my daily NYT briefing, I know who I'm going to vote for come November, and I have to just let the rest go as best I can for right now.

And the way I let it go is by writing this blog and enjoying the little moments in my week that bring me quite a bit of joy.

So let's jump into the joy of this week's recap...

What I Bought

I didn't buy a ton of tangible items this week!

I'm more conscious with my spending lately, and so most of my fun money went to experiences like getting a Boar's Head Cafe greek salad (SO good and filling) and pre-buying tickets for a yearly apple picking day date (more on that below.)

I did scoop up this book as one of my next reads (more on that below too.

I mentioned the other week that I'm a big fan of planners. (Find my planning Instagram here!) I've been glam planning each week for the past 5 years now and it's one of my favorite hobbies.

So when my favorite sticker shops had a giant sale, I scooped up a few sticker kits to plan for my future weekly layouts.

Planning to plan? It's a Type-A thing!

Last Week's Buys - Yay or Nay?

It's been two weeks since I added The Ordinary products into my daily and nightly skincare routine. (More about my skincare struggles here.)

I scooped up thisthisthis, and this and use them with this cleanser and this AHA/BHA gel. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the results so far.

On the one hand, I have fewer whiteheads and my skin looks very moisturized  - yay and yay! On the other hand, I still have quite a few clogged pores and raised bumps and I'm not sure that this routine is doing all that much for it.

I mentioned last week that skin cell turnover takes 30-40 days roughly, so I'll keep you posted as the weeks continue.

Thisthis and this came in and this and this are KA-UTE! They were a perfect little pumpkin family on our dining table...until the little one broke in an unfortunate accident 😔. I plan on replacing it this week, though. They are so worth scooping up!

These? I'm a little confused by.

I thought I was getting the two prints pictured but I ended up getting two of the same print lol? It is a cute set, though, and a nice hearty size. So I'm keeping 'em.

Weekly Seasonal Celebrations

September mini-celebrations included:

Burn a Fall scented candle ✔️
(I'm still burning this and it's becoming more buttery scented as it burns. Yum!)

Weekly wear my September lip shade, Mauve ✔️
(This is my favorite mauve lippie this year)

Wear a Fall-themed outfit✔️
(Is it even Fall if I don't wear plaid?! )

The third anniversary of a childhood friend's passing - September 22nd ✔️
(September isn't a great month, in terms of losses. I said a little prayer on this day for aother childhood friend.)

Listen to my Master Fall playlist ✔️

Go apple picking✔️

Drink apple cider ✔️

Watch a fall-theme film ✔️

Paint a weekly, seasonal mani ✔️
(SO excited to share this mani with you in a few weeks!)

Reading Right Now

I zoomed through and finished this! It was such a lovely, fun read and I'm so glad I added it to my coffee table book collection.

Last week, I wasn't sure If I was going to keep reading this. But this week, I'm taking a new approach.

I'm going to keep reading this, but very slowly, whenever I have a few minutes during breakfast or lunch. I'm learning quite a bit and really soaking in the material. It's easier for me to implement what I'm learning if I take it in small chunks.

Then this is going to be my "wind down before bed and read for fun" reading. If you haven't already noticed, I love biographies and memoirs. Real life is often more interesting than fiction!

Reading two books at once may or may not affect my reading speed. I already accomplished my goal of reading 12 books this year, though, so anything I read from here is just a cherry!

Watching Right Now

That Fall-theme film I watched? Only my favorite Fall film of all time, When Harry Met Sally 😍

I mean, first off, I laugh every single year that I watch. Second, the story is so incredibly sweet. Third, there's no topping those fall in Central Park scenes!

And fourth, I inherited this DVD in 2004 when my uncle unexpectedly passed away. I hadn't seen the film before my mom gave me his DVD and so I like to think this it's a little something special he sent me from beyond 😊

Listening to Right Now

My love affair with cozy jazz continues as I still enjoy thisthis, and this.

A colleague also recently introduced me to this and it's just background Jazz perfection.

Enjoying Right Now

Doing all the fall things like going on an apple picking date with B, my hubs!

Every year I find us a cute little farm where we can enjoy the day outside and pick a whole month's worth of apples.

This year we went here and it was the top of the tops as far as apple picking farms go! There was so much to do for couples and families - from your standard corn maze and pumpkin patch, to really unique fun like mini zip lining and pedal karts.

We had a really yummy lunch here and then picked apples until our hearts were content (/our 1/2 peck bags were full!) We wrapped up our day with fresh made apple cider donuts. It was a wonderful day date!

Thanks for stopping by today 😀
